Winter 2023

Language Arts

Second and third graders have just finished a language arts unit on schools around the world. Students read and wrote about tent schools in Haiti, boat schools in Bangladesh, and a doorstep school in India.

Math

Third graders have finished their introduction to multiplication and division and have moved on to graphing data. They are creating and interpreting bar graphs, pictographs, and line plots.

Social Studies

Our class used mapping skills to learn about Vermont and our community. We made a Woodstock town map out of legos!

Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year

Welcome to Mrs. Mayo's second and third grade blog! Read on to find out what your child has been learning about this fall.

September/October

Students have been studying weather and climate in science. They have conducted experiments with weather tools and are making climate maps of the world. In math, both grades have been working with addition, subtraction, and place value. In language arts, students have conducted guided close reads of The Dot and The Invisible Boy, while examining the questions of 'What is School' and 'Why are schools important?'.

Remote Learning on 2/23

Hello Third Grade Families,

I hope you enjoy this final day of February break!

Here is the schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday learning.

Your student came home with their math workbook and a learning plan for Tuesday (2/23) and Wednesday (2/24).

I am helping my colleagues move classrooms today, but I'll check my email this afternoon if there are any questions I can answer. I'm looking forward to seeing ALL third graders in-person on Thursday =).
